St. Paul Church Cemetery Expansion Guidelines – Established June 2018

The following general information, pricing, regulations and guidelines apply to the 2017 expansion of the St. Paul Church Cemetery, including the area set aside for the burial of cremated remains.

General Information

  1. St. Paul Cemetery is a Catholic Cemetery, the property of St. Paul Church in St. Paul, Missouri, a Parish of the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
  2. Policies, Rules and Regulations enacted for St. Paul Cemetery must be observed by all. The sacred canons of the Roman Catholic Church and the Norms of the Archdiocese of St. Louis shall govern in all cases.
  3. A copy of the Policies, Rules and Regulations currently in effect will be available in the Parish Office. These are subject to change as circumstances warrant.
  4. The Cemetery is a sacred place and is due all the honor and respect given to the church itself.
  5. Only registered members of St. Paul Catholic Church are privileged to purchase graves or lots.
  6. If their permanent address is located outside of the St. Paul Parish Boundaries, new parishioners will be eligible for cemetery plot purchases after one year of active participation at St. Paul Parish.
  7. Plots may be purchased at any time.  Plot locations are assigned in sequential order as sold.  A deed will be issued with the assigned lot number and description of said plot.
  8. The purchase of a plot does not include the opening of the grave at the time of internment. The company that is contracted by St. Paul Church to work in our cemetery sets this pricing.  In general, this expense is handled through the funeral home.

  2. A standard veteran’s stone may be placed at the foot of the grave.
  3. Sealing of urns in headstone is not allowed.
  4. The stones placed in the cremation section will be set flush with the ground so as not to interfere with mowing.
  5. Headstones must have a concrete base.

Cemetery Maintenance Guidelines

So as not to interfere with the grounds keeping of the cemetery, please be advised of the following:

  1. No breakable containers are allowed on the gravesite.
  2. No planting of trees, shrubs or flowers is allowed on the gravesite.
  3. Nothing shall be placed at the gravesite that is not permanently attached to the headstone.  This includes small statues, candles, trinkets, solar lamps, etc.  Exceptions are made for American flags placed on the graves of veterans for national holidays.
  4. Flowers shall be placed in vases that are attached to the headstone or attached with a headstone clip.  Exceptions are made for grave blankets placed for the Christmas season.
  5. Shepherd’s hooks and flowers “shoved” into the ground are not allowed.
  6. Items that interfere with the grounds keeping will be removed.  The cemetery grounds will be cleared the first week of the month of all faded items.
