This Week in 4th Grade ( April 10-14)

Monday: Stations of The Cross 8:30 am, K-8

Tuesday: St. Louis Area Food Bank FIELD TRIP!  We will be leaving at 8:30 am and returning around 12:30pm.  We will be eating lunch when we return.  Please have your child bring their lunch on this day. Dress in jeans and a St. Paul spirit shirt.  

Thursday: Noon Dismissal

Language Arts ~We will be reading the story The Girl Who Loved Spiders! 

Math~ We will continue to work with fractions and begin to look at decimals. Please continue to practice Math facts until they are mastered!

Religion~ Psalm Sunday and Holy Week will be our focus over the next 2 weeks.

Science~ This week we will be learning more about sound waves.

Bonus Question: Last week in class we talked about the Holy Triduum, On what day of the Holy Triduum do we have Veneration of the Cross?

This Week in 4th Grade (April 3-7)

Monday: Stations of The Cross Presented by Fourth Grade

Wednesday : Faust Park FIELD TRIP! Please have your child dress appropriately!  75% of the field trip is spent outside (rain or shine:)  Your child may wear jeans and a St. Paul spirit shirt.   A disposable sack lunch will be needed, please keep in mind that Faust Park requested the students NOT bring a soda in their lunch, we may be eating inside the historic house.

Science~ This week we will be observing the conversion of energy.

This Week in 4th Grade ( March 27-31)

Language Arts ~We will be reading The Fun They Had, a science fiction story  that is set in the future.  As we read this story we will be discussing the elements of science fiction.  We will continue to work with verbs, this week we will be working with irregular verbs.

Math~ Operations with Mixed Fractions is our focus this week.  Please continue to practice Math facts until they are mastered!

Religion~ We will continue to work on the Stations of the Cross! **Remember we will be presenting our version of the Stations to the Parish on March 31 at the Church!  All are welcome to attend this beautiful service. 

Science~ All of the projects were AMAZING!!  Now we will become physicist and be learning all about energy and WORK:) 

4th March 21 2017 History

Social Studies Weeks of March 21-24 and 27-31

We are moving on to the Southwest Region this week! This is the smallest region that we will study. Student can begin testing on state identification and capitals on Wednesday, March 29.

Arizona - Phoenix 

 

4th Graders have now studied 39/50 states! Please help them review all of the captials that they have learned so far. We will be having a test over all 50 states/capitals at the end of our study of the regions!

Language Arts ~We will be reading an informational text about the relationship between a tortoise and a hippopotamus, Owen & Mzee, The True Story of A Remarkable Friendship. As we read the story we will be discussing fact and opinion, and author's word choice.  We will continue to work with verbs, this week we will be working with linking verbs and helping verbs!

Math~ Operations with Fractions is our focus over the next few weeks.  Please continue to practice Math facts until they are mastered!

Religion~ We will continue to work on the Stations of the Cross! The class is really looking forward to March 31 when we present the Stations to the Parish.

Science~ Extinct and Endangered Animal Project is due this week. All information is in your students Science Binder.

Basketball Unit- rules, skills, passing,shooting and dribbing drills

Small court games, passing games, shooting drills, and full court games, knock-out and 11's game.

Feb PE Unit-

Hockey Unit- Skills, Passing, Shooting and saftey use of the Hockey sticks

Small cout games, passing games, shooting games and full court Hockey games.

Mar PE Unit-

Badmiton and Tennis Unit- Rules, court sizes, volley and serving

Small court games, passing games, serving games, and full court games.

April PE Unit-

Golf Unit- Skills, rules, basic grip with driver, irons and putter

Driving range off mats, chipping into buckets, and putting into practice holes and basic skills to play golf.

May PE Unit-

All school Field Day Event: Thank you all Parent's and Teacher's for your help and support on this special day!

Wiffleball Unit- Skills, rules, throwing, catching and base running

Throwing practice, catching practice, wiffleball games.

Two birthday games per month. Each student with a birthday during this month will decide on what the class will play for the day!

Language Arts ~We will be the informational text The Ever-Living TreeAs we read the story we will be discussing how the forest trees show change as well as working on text structure, and similes. We will also be working with verbs!

Math~ The students will be working with mixed numbers.  Please continue to practice Math facts until they are mastered!

Religion~ We are beginning to work on the Stations of the Cross, as well as reflecting on ways to make Lent a time of renewal.

Science~ We will be Identifying extinct and endangered animals as we conclude our examination of the Ecosystem.  Your forth grader will begin to work on a research project this week, all information and grading guide lines will come home this week.

Nature Unleashed

This week in nature Unleashed we discussed "Healthy Soils".  The students in 4th and 5th grade will be creating a poster with the theme "Healthy Soils are Full of Life".  They will be participating in a poster contest by the St. Charles County Soil and Water Conservation District. Each student has been given a poster board and the rules/details for their poster.
